Lessons in gaining respect and standing your ground are all around us.

The hard part, of course, is knowing when you need to stand up for yourself and then making sure you do – stand up for yourself.

One story leaps off the page this week. I’m so inspired and moved by the courage of the little “Wolf-Child”.

Do yourself a favor and click over to read her story and see the photos of this brave little girl.

She was given a visible challenge to deal with for the rest of her life.

I wonder if the people who love her and see her every day have adjusted their eyes so they only see a beautiful, proud and confident child.

I’m moved to tears when I look at her. I just want to hug her…and be her body guard.

Supatra Sasuphan hairiest girl: ‘Wolf child’ says Ambras syndrome makes her popular | Mail Online posted at News | Mail Online, saying, “Although the schoolgirl from Bangkok has faced merciless teasing at school, Supatra says being given a Guinness World Record for her hair has helped her become extremely popular. Supatra is one of just 50 known sufferers of Ambras Syndrome – caused by a faulty chromosome – to be documented since the Middle Ages. Before the disease was understood, sufferers were branded werewolves.”

How To Stand Up For Yourself

Welcome to another collection of interesting posts gathered from around the blogosphere on the topic of self-esteem, being assertive and being an independent thinker. Since it’s Charlie Time, we even have a post trying to pull something positive out of #tigerblood’s tirades.

___________

Speaking of tirades…

Here’s one of mine:

Don’t inflict your point of view of “perfection” on to me. I did not ask for your approval. Most likely you won’t give it. If you do give it, you’ll just find something else that you don’t approve of.  So, piss off, please and find someone else to talk to.

A boss had a bad attitude, and was often downright rude. One day I simply told him how we were going to interact. I told him we were going to be friends, and that’s how ti was going to be. From that moment on, we had such a warm relationship it was overwhelming!”

Is that story about the wolf girl actually true? I am not familiar with this blog. IF it is good for her. This society is entirely too concerned with how people look. Hope you will visit my blog. I am also into self help:)
