Adventures in living a healthy, juicy life
by Cheryl Ragsdale
The foolish young man in the video below played a high-risk game when he decided he was safe to bully a much larger boy.
Ouch! Something definitely gets broken when an over-sized, man-child picks up the smaller boy and slams him down hard after being taunted.
Since it looks like he did some damage to the younger boy, I doubt that any other kids will tease or taunt him again.
Big kids with heavy hands have to be taught how to deal with weaker people.
Especially when the weaker people set up situations to test themselves against bigger, stronger people.
Teenagers and young people – with hard heads and stubborn streaks – learn by doing. What’s your position on this situation? How would you advise your kids to handle this problem?
My answer, not surprisingly, is to enroll the larger boy into a martial arts program. There, he would learn how to manage his size and his temper. Plus, he would learn how to be confident in the face of being bullied. Defensive body language goes a long way to frightening potential abusers away.
Plus, he would have known how to easily deflect those punches.

How To Stand Up For Yourself
That video was difficult to watch.
More often than having to face physical bullying, we’re subjected to someone mouthing off in our direction and imposing their “well-intentioned” opinions and world views on us.
When people do things that we don’t agree with or don’t like, it’s difficult for the rest us to mind our own business and let them live their own lives. Carmen Engel’s post (listed below) reminds us to take a deep breath and wait until you truly understand what’s going on before you open your mouth to say something or make a move.
This week’s list of interesting posts covering the topic of “standing up for yourself”, introduces a group of women “pole-dancing for Jesus” and more advice on handling how teenagers behave on facebook.
