I’m pretty sure they’re just taking the stat that they already have and just presenting them in a legible way using the most important indicators from the different stats. I do agree with Mitch about the reliability of the Alexa rankings though i still look at mine to see out of pure vanity and knowing full well that they don’t really mean much

Hello Baadier – my new friend! I agree too. It’s nice to have some number to look at even if none of the different measuring companies do it the same way. What’s great about working online is all of the different ways people have of trying to organize data to have it make sense and influence our behavior.

    Hi Cheryl,
I noticed that the other day too but it would be more forthcoming if Alexa stated the most important part of what they do: ALL RESULTS ARE BASED UPON VISITORS WHO HAVE THE ALEXA TOOLBAR.
So given that piece of data, who would have the highest number of visitors that use the Alexa toolbar? it only makes sense that those users would be ones who know what Alexa is, primarily people who cater to other bloggers. There is a reason the advertising agencies don’t use Alexa at all nor do they even consider it and the better ones don’t even acknowledge it, that’s because it doesn’t mean much except people who visit yours, mine or anyone’s site that have the Alexa toolbar, AKA: Blog owners who aren’t the traffic most of us are looking for anyways.
While I don’t understand google page rank, this appears to be something people are willing to pay out for, just my experience.
Love what you’ve done with the site by the way!!

      Hello Mitch,
Thanks for the compliment! It’s nice to have you around. I like Alexa because it moves from day to day. I have a scorecard on my toolbar that shows me multiple indicators for every site I land on. Everyone has an opinion. In the end, we all look at the ones we like best or that make us feel good. I was thinking of SportsChatPlace when I added a sports category to TGIF Links :-)
