Adventures in living a healthy, juicy life

kkkk
Each week, from the list of interesting blog carnival posts submitted to me, I choose one to feature. Take a look at this one sent in by Case Ernsting…
- Case Ernsting presents The Office: A Study in Social Media Success posted at MetaSpring Blog, saying, “Getting started with internet marketing and social media is a complicated process. But have no fear! There are many examples to follow including The Office, Sharpie and a t-shirt company.”
Case points out the brilliance of “…giving each of the show’s most beloved characters a blog or social media account, The Office is able to interact with their audience and provide additional mediums to create a fanatic connection. It’s a marketing tactic focused on building brand loyalty through an emotional connection. Viewers tune in because they care about the characters, and understand the essence of who they are.”
I’ve only watched the UK version of The Office – so Ricky Gervais , from the original show, has his photo featured here.
I’m happy to say, I’ve had this experience of connecting directly with the star of a TV program that I watch regularly, “The Deadliest Warrior”.
At first, I didn’t recognize the name of the person responding to me as we watched the show “together” on twitter.
Once I did realize that @geoffdesmoulin was one of the main characters on the show, it created a cool bonding experience for me and the other people involved in our virtual chat.
That wasn’t possible before twitter!
I invite you to read Case’s article and to take an action towards finding creative ways to brand yourself in the online community of your choice.
At the very least, say hello to someone famous…even if they don’t say hello back – you’ll still giggle as you hit send.
Let us know what you chose to do and how it turned out by leaving a comment (go to the green comment icon at the top of this post to be taken to the comment section).

I don’t watch The Office but I like what they’re doing – having a blog for each character. I think it’s an excellent strategy for their type of audience.

Hello Julius,
It’s remarkable to be able to reach out and touch someone conversationally in the blink of an eye. Gives another layer of meaning to the word “accessibility”

Cheryl, the TV show Glee actually used the same Twitter strategy since last year too.
Interestingly enough, they had so much Twitter accounts to follow that I gave up and just follow the main show’s Twitter and a couple of the stars’ personal Twitter.

Hi Kim,
Following so many twitter accounts (and facebook friends) and different blogs can be overwhelming. I find myself following for awhile and then getting distracted by someone new. Fickle, but still fun!!
