1.  What if you woke up one day and found yourself locked out of your twitter account?!

Find out what happened to one unlucky blogger who found himself in this situation.  He managed to get himself reinstated, but not without some considerable effort.  Check out his post to find out what he did to violate Twitter’s Terms of Service and how he got himself out of hot water.

My Twitter Account Got Suspended: What Now? The dangers of bulk following and unfollowing are revealed.

2.  Choosing a domain name that no one can remember.

As many of you know, I’m a big fan of Yaro Starak from entrepreneur’s journey.

Yaro offers loads of excellent blogging information for free.

When I first started blogging, I downloaded his free e-book called Blog Profits Blueprint.

Each week, I’m focusing on one of Yaro’s expert blogging tips.  Let’s look at another one of his recommendations.

If you are serious about blogging, be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog, you need an easily rememberable domain name.

People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that’s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL.

Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you’ve done a good job!).

Before I started thatgirlisfunny.com, I had another blog for a brief period of time – about 3 months.   When I first started getting organized for the old blog, I bought the .com, the .net and the .org – big waste of money!

Once I realized that I didn’t like the direction that first blog was taking, I decided to start fresh with a new one. When the time came to buy the domain name for thatgirlisfunny, I took Yaro’s advice and chose to buy just the .com

What about you?  What’s working for you on your blog? What would you like to change or work on next?  Please leave comments and let me know what you’re thinking.  The comment box is half-way down on the right-hand side of this post.

Why did I call my blog thatgirlisfunny?

Because I am!

I agree about getting the .com. For my feng shui blog, I got fengshuicrazy.org, because the .com was taken. Often, I myself forget and type in fengshuicrazy.com, so I’m sure my readers do it too!

I totally agree with your point about domain names that are easy to remember. It’s also good to ask for other’s opinions about the one you’re planning to have.

      Hi Julius,
The time we spend figuring out what to call our site is really well spent. I agree with you about asking other people’s opinion. I listened to what the name “thatgirlisfunny” sounded like when people said it. I’m still happy with the name I chose. I like the name of your blog too. EvenGrounds is easy to remember and conjures up an image of your purpose as well :D

First visit here and quite impressed with your writings, very catchy blog domain by the way, good call. :) I read the post you recommended about Twitter acc suspension. I was never a fan of auto-follow/unfollow, the experience proven that to use the app, one needs to have proper monitoring of the quantity.

I will be doing some enhancement work for my blog theme. I have some issues with it therefore ‘am now working on a new ‘home’ for it. For me, content is priority for a blog. I’m trying to maintain that and hopefully it will go as planned. :)

      Hello Ching Ya,
Welcome to my blog! I hope you visit often. Thank you for the yes vote on my blog domain name and my content. Much appreciated! I need some help with adjustments to my blog theme. I like it, but there’s a couple of things I’d like to adjust. I’m looking forward to seeing how your blog changes over time. Just followed you on twitter so I can keep up with you :D
