24 blogging tips from expert bloggers – Pillar Content, Privacy and Power

Adventures in living a healthy, juicy life

Privacy Policy

This week, we have 24 new Blogging Tips from Expert Bloggers. The blogging tip I selected to add to my blog from last week’s list was to publish a Privacy Policy for my blog.

I followed BWL’s link and discovered information about adding a privacy policy.

BWL presents How to make money with a blog posted at Money in the Bible | Christian Personal Finance Blog, saying, “This is a 6,500 word article I wrote documenting how I make money with my blog…”

If you use google ads, a privacy policy is strongly encouraged.

I tried out a couple of different policies from different sites. One of them added some code to my site – hoping I wouldn’t notice – but I did. When I removed the suspicious looking code, my new privacy page no longer opened.

After a few choice curse words – and another google search, I found one that is free of unwanted code.  View thatgirlisfunny’s Privacy Page.

There’s a link to the company that provided the policy at the bottom of the page. They request a $15 donation.

Tyrone Shum and Yaro Starak at "Our Internet Secrets" Sydney June 2009

I’m a big fan of Yaro Starak from entrepreneur’s journey.

Yaro is pictured here standing next to Tyrone Shum from internetbusinesspath.

Tyrone and I are in a small bloggers’ commenting group.

Yaro offers loads of excellent blogging information for free.

When I first started blogging, I downloaded his free e-book called Blog Profits Blueprint.

One item I paid particular attention to was the creation of what he calls “pillar content”.

For that reason, most of the articles on ThatGirlisFunny are considered “pillar content”.

The following is an excerpt from an article he wrote called “10 Blog Traffic Tips”

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I've listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won't stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

      Hi Julius,
Always nice to hear from you! Your blog has excellent examples of pillar articles. You’re well on your way to building a nice base of posts that people will search for to find ways to make their blogs more accessible to people with vision issues.
