RAOKA Your Power to Assist by Sending a Single Thought: Random Acts of Kick Arse

wherever two people are gathered in His name,

there is love…

This month’s Random Acts of Kick Arse (RAOKA) theme is Gratitude.

When horrific tragedies occur, like the earthquake in Haiti, I wonder “why did this happen”? What possible function could something like this serve? Why doesn’t God manage the world better so things like this don’t happen?

It occurred to me recently that if it’s true that God works in mysterious ways, then maybe there is a method to his madness.  What if tragedy strikes to make us stop our daily goings-on?

Stop to focus love, attention, caring and real assistance – all at once, all together – on one person, one place, one event, one group of people.

When tragedy strikes, we collectively open our hearts and feel pain for ourselves and for others.  Maybe what we’re experiencing is one gigantic healing event.

I wonder. If we felt like that more often towards each other…maybe there’d be less arguments, less crime, less heart-break and less man-made tragedies. We can start there. Would it help to prevent natural disasters…how would we know?

Gratitude

The following video recounting a tragedy that occurred for the Ukrainian people during WWII made me feel grateful to be part of the human race. We’re not alone. Watch and allow your heart to open and connect with other people. No matter how or where tragedy strikes, we all experience it the same way.  Confusion, despair, frustration…what if just by watching this video, your heart joined with another’s and another’s and connected to a huge cloud of LOVE. That’s gotta be a good thing.  Try it…8.5 minutes…this video is worth that…and you are too.

I don’t know if God would call it RAOKA, but He probably would understand what I mean.

RAOKA defined

“Random Acts of Kick Arse” or RAOKA is a movement led by Sami from lifelaughsandlemmings.  Sami’s Australian – that’s why she says “arse” instead of ass, in case you’re wondering.

In her own words, “Each month, there will be a theme with the only criteria being that it’ll involve giving back something positive in some way. At the start of the following month, we’ll share with you what we’ve achieved, what lessons we learnt and what the results were.”

Definition: Kick Arse (Oz) or kick ass (Yank)

- having a strong effect on someone or something; forceful; powerful

- exceptionally good; spectacular, impressive, etc.

January Theme: Gratitude

It’s always a good time to look about and find people and things to be grateful for.  Be especially grateful for anything that has you feel love and be gentle with yourself and others.

I so love this video. It brings me to awe-inspired tears.

Cheryl, you are so right. Though the events happening in the world are urgent, important, and sometimes even catastrophic on a global scale, their truest import extends deeply within….

How do they make us feel? And how can we support those around us through those feelings?

The power of a loving thought is simply astounding.

Great video Cheryl. Thanks for sharing. I do believe that good can come out of any situation and things always happen for a reason. It scares me sometimes, because people are so caught up with money these days that they are forgetting what is really important. “Happiness is always in front of you, not in the bank.”

Hey Cheryl! An interesting way to interpret this month. I like it!

I’ve seen the video before. It really is amazing (and powerful). Worth every bit of the 8 minutes to watch.

    Thanks Cheryl. You rock!
