Sticky Situations: I’m trying to watch the game and these cheerleaders keep getting in the way

Sticky Situations

Consider the following predicament.  Men, I’m sure you can relate to this young man’s situation.  Courtside seats! With cheerleaders blocking his view, so to speak.  Women, I’m sure we can all relate to his date’s response.  99% of women in this same situation would respond with a similar dirty look.  The other 1%? The guy’s probably sitting next to his sister.

Salvaging the Situation

Oh dear. From now until the end of time, this woman will have the same reaction at the mere mention of the words “going to the game, cheerleaders or courtside seats.  You know that we women have memories like elephants – we never forget the indignities we suffer.

So, things happen on the spur of the moment. What would you do? How would you respond? How would you want to be treated in this situation?

I’ll go first.  My reaction would be “(first, wounded) hey, what’s going on? Where did all these cheerleaders come from? They’re taking all of my guy’s attention.  (then, annoyed)  hmmph! Then, hopefully, I would make a joke and find it comical.  But I would have to go through my range of emotional reactions first.

Guys, I would need you to hug up on me…a lot. Whisper something nice in my ear.  You know, I’m gonna have a reaction. Best to mitigate, as best you can.  Because, guys, that hand on the chin speaks volumes to other women. She’s not saying anything because in her mind, she’s already on the phone with her best friend forming a war council. lol!

Of course, this is just my opinion. Everyone seeing these photos will have their own point of view on the situation. I don’t expect you to agree with me. My point of view is a reflection of my life experience.  In fact, I welcome your input.

What do you see when you look at these photos?

What does your reaction say about you?

What have you learned about yourself from salvaging sticky situations?  What’s your default reaction: ignore it, get mad, go silent, leave, nag, laugh? Do you bear grudges – an elephant never forgets?  It’s interesting to think about.

Relationships can be ruined in an instant because we don’t allow each other room to respond when unexpected things happen. If you don’t get it right in the heat of the moment, make sure you go back and salvage the situation. We’re all human. We just want to feel loved, respected and honored. And really, the above situation is hilarious. Um, as long as it’s happening to someone else.

Today is Tight Ass Tuesday (TAT) This was originally started as a day to discuss what you’re doing to keep yourself fit and fighting trim.  I intend to stretch the meaning to include more than just physical exercise. That way we can include every area of our lives. Let’s start by defining “tight ass”. (Usually, I feature the logo for TAT in this space but I think we’ve seen enough for one day.)

There are two types of tight asses in the world:

-          something good: a rear end that is exceptionally attractive, well-defined or desirable

-          something not so good: someone uptight or overly cautious, a person who doesn’t  enjoy anything fun, spontaneous, or interesting

My intention is to encourage you to achieve something good – physically – and to be more fun, spontaneous and interesting which leads – quite nicely, I might add – to developing habits designed to have you “Stay Young – from the Inside Out”
