December Theme: Wacky!
Wacky! December was a great month to look for WACKY with so many expectations and so much rushing around. Here are my offerings to have you feeling warm and fuzzy today. If you’re new to this page, I’ve defined RAOKA for you in the next paragraph.
RAOKA defined
“Random Acts of Kick Arse” or RAOKA is a movement led by Sami from lifelaughsandlemmings. Sami’s Australian – that’s why she says “arse” instead of ass, in case you’re wondering.
In her own words, “Each month, there will be a theme with the only criteria being that it’ll involve giving back something positive in some way. At the start of the following month, we’ll share with you what we’ve achieved, what lessons we learnt and what the results were.”
Definition: Kick Arse (Oz) or kick ass (Yank)
- having a strong effect on someone or something; forceful; powerful
- exceptionally good; spectacular, impressive, etc.

As I discovered WACKY in new places,
I realized that when people feel safe and supported,
they drop their guard and let us in.
Love is present.
Wow! We hit the jackpot with this theme. Wacky brings to mind four of my “51 Must-Know Habits for Staying Young – from the Inside Out” (the complete list is available as a free e-book. See the large pink box on the right-hand side of this post for downloading instructions).
Stay Young Habit #1
Greet everyone you meet with a warm smile.
Stay Young Habit #2
Laugh out loud and often.
Stay Young Habit #3
Find people who make you laugh and hang around with them.
Stay Young Habit #4
Spend less time with people who don’t laugh or won’t laugh.
Enjoy!

and a really creative idea to support a good cause!
Here’s the back story on this video:
“Our daughter-in-law, Emily (MacInnes) Somers, created, directed and choreographed this in Portland last week for her Medline glove division as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. This was all her idea to help promote their new pink gloves. I don’t know how she got so many employees, doctors and patients to participate, but it started to really catch on and they all had a lot of fun doing it.”
When the video gets 1 million hits, Medline will be making a huge contribution to the hospital, as well as offering free mammograms for the community. Please check it out. It's an easy and great way to donate to a wonderful cause, and who hasn't been touched by breast cancer?

The pink glove clip is awesome! What a great compilation of all of the hospital depts
And I SO wish I could do the bun up-do. My hair is so incredibly thick though. Besides, I can’t even remember the last time I owned a bottle of hair spray. It must have been circa 1990-ish.

I love the pick glove dance – the older gentleman with the mop really stands out in my mind. They’re having so much fun! I’ve never owned hair spray. My mother is English. She calls it hair “lacquer”. Back in the 60’s, she sprayed so much on her bouffant up-do, it would make me cough and gag if I stood too close when she was spraying. Too funny!
