Adventures in Living a Healthy, Juicy Life
By Cheryl Ragsdale
In conjunction with our Genuine Health Gift Basket Give-Away, we are continuing on with our quest to explore my list of “51 Must-Know Habits for Staying Young – from the Inside Out” (the list is available as a free e-book, see large pink box on the right for downloading instructions). Let’s see what’s next.
___
Stay Young Habit #30:
Walk tall and straight. Don’t plod as if you’re walking with heavy burdens – unless you are walking with heavy burdens.
______
Stay Young Habit #31:
Don’t walk with your neck and head thrust forward like you’re trying to win the race by a nose. You’ll get there. Look your best when you arrive.
______
Often, we walk this way because we have too many distracting thoughts on our mind. Practice breathing in and out slowly and bring your focus to quieting your mind. Being stooped is a bad habit. Break it by practicing standing up straight as you make your way along.
That way, if someone springs out of the bushes at you, you’ll be ready to drop your bundles and respond with your Samaurai sword or some good martial arts kicks and punches. What? It could happen…

8th on the List of Top 10 Greatest Martial Arts Film Stars
Stumbled upon this excellent list over at thepulplist.com Glad to see my personal favorite Shintaro Katsu landing 8th on the list. You may recognize him from the “Blind Swordsman” movie series. There were at least 19 movies made in the series. I rented ALL of them from netflix. The best one was the episode where he took responsibility for transporting a very young baby boy in order to reunite him with his father after the baby’s mother was done away with by evil desperadoes.
Zato-ichi, blind masseur by trade, is running from his Yakuza gangster roots by wandering the countryside on foot. Impervious to the cold, he wears the same kimono outfit with rope sandals, winter or summer. His physical comedy makes me laugh. He has terrible table manners. He doesn’t bathe or wash his loincloth very often. All of this, combined with his excellent sword- play, plus the usual “kill all the bad guys in small groups of 4-6 at a time” make for fantastic story lines.
Because he is protective and honorable, good Japanese girls often fell in love with him. But he always left town, leaving a trail of broken hearts behind him. Walking proudly, tall and erect – instead of riding off – into the sunset.
When I watch these movies, I always wonder if I were standing there – facing the Blind Swordsman – would I bravely rush in where former fools have already died? I don’t think so. I think I would apply the quickness to my feet and run away!!

Personal Development Kaleidoscope
No one achieves success without the help and support of other people. Not even Zato-ichi-san. Someone always helps Zato. People feed him, do his laundry and give him a place to stay. Luckily, we all have people around us who cheer us up when we’re feeling down. Connecting with others in our communities is essential to our personal happiness. Keeping your heart healthy and juicy is key to “Staying Young – from the Inside Out”.
The book “Personal Development Kaleidoscope”, is a demonstration of the power of connection in action. The Kaleidoscope Relationships List began as a list of the authors and their web-sites.
We are asked to publish this list on our site and to add people who we feel use or have used the principles taught in this book effectively. I am honored to be included on this list!
I am personally adding: each of these authors have made a profound difference for me – I hope you’ll find what you’re looking for in their writings too.
