To those who have tried the 20 minute workout, does this really work? Need an evidence first before doing this weird workouts.
I used to love exercising in my leotard and leg warmers to Jane Fonda and Jazzercise videos, and I still do these days.
I did it since I was a kid. I admit that I am a male. As a guy, I love doing aerobics.
Bless you all.
Warmly,
Chris Kennedy

The jokes on me. I used to DO the 20 minute workout daily and never thought of it as funny or weird at all :0) I just took it for granted that the guys were oinkers :0)
I did Jane Fonda too and had the leg warmers and the cute workout suits of the day as well. They were fun – besides – I thought I really looked cool!
Bess (I think that was her name) saying ‘you do not need to stop’ still comes to mind when I’m doing something and I want to stop!
I think that the 80′s had character. Definitely high maintenance – I also used to spend 40 minutes on my hair and make up before I ever went out the door.
Those were the days…

Remember the linebacker shoulderpads that were in everything? If those make a comeback I will die!
Oh, and if you need legwarmers, Cheryl, you can get them at http://www.discountdance.com I don’t actually have any, but I probably should. You never know when your ankles are going to develop gooseflesh.

Hi Laura,
I saw someone wearing leg warmers today! They were black and had three buttons down the side. She had them pulled up over her knees – a new way of wearing them. I definitely ordering some – gotta figure out what colors!
Thanks for letting me know where to get some,
Cheryl

Yeah, I think the 80′s was when guys caught on to those 20 minute work-out shows. I don’t think getting in shape was on their minds! And skinny jeans were made to remind us we can never look as good as the women in those videos unless we get liposuction. I am divorcing my treadmill….

I think I remember these on showtime in between movies. As I recall all of my buddies would watch those workouts too.

Hi John,
So funny – everyone’s watching, no one’s working out – Lol! Something for everyone in these shows.
Oh, and P.S.
I just read the caption on the pic, “Four more, three more…” You’ve got it wrong! It was “FO MO! (dangerously close to MOFO), FEE MO! TWO MO!” Don’t you remember? The eighties were sick, I tell you. SICK! And I don’t mean that in the good 21st century sorta way.

Ahhh, memories…”The 20-Minute Workout” on TV…yeah, you nailed it…that WAS our point of view. (hanging head in shame)
Think I’ll go home tonight, pull out the old ‘Hammer pants’ and force my kids to listen to my wonderful rendition of “Can’t Touch This!” Great stuff, Jacey! (Thanks for posting it, Cheryl!)

I love this post! Oh, wait, I wrote it!
Really, though, Cheryl, you took me waaay back to a world I had completely forgotten about. I remember doing those stupid 20 minute workouts. But the thing is, I was laughing at them THEN! I’m certain I must have been ahead of my time. I always have been.
The photos you managed to dig up are absolutely priceless. Especially the bird’s eye of the butts.
Tera, I know what you mean. If the boot cuts go, I go.

ROTFL OMGosh! I loved this post. I was born in 81 but let me tell you I was way beyond my age. I too had matching leg warmers, cut off sweat shirts that me mad Flashdance-alicious, belts, and I teased my bangs like no other. I was a dancer and I danced with girls that were 5 and 6 years older than I was, so I was influenced heavily from the get go. Thanks for the post, and though I love the 80’s please don’t take away the boot cut jean. I refuse to wear a mumu =)

Hi Tera,
I LOVE leg warmers! Where can I buy some? I’ll wear them for kick-boxing class.
